Abstract

En un mundo cada vez más pequeño, el trafico terrestre es algo esencial en la sociedad moderna, y sus terminales de enlace (umbrales de una ciudad) son para millones de viajeros, el pórtico de ingreso a una ciudad, el primer elemento de valoración de la misma, la primera imagen, a veces la única, de la zona, región o ciudad que los recibe. La contemplación de un terminal terrestre va más allá de la propia navegación terrestre, es decir, necesita ser un centro integral de servicios, trabajo y comercio, así como de asistencia complementaria a sus usuarios y acompañantes. Por ello es importante entonces el predominio de la racionalidad y funcionalidad arquitectónica y constructiva, siempre entendible para los usuarios, en salidas, llegadas y enlaces. Necesita ser operativa, sencilla, económica y funcional, capaz de absorber el aumento que experimenta la tercera ciudad más grande del Perú, la ciudad de Trujillo. Es por ello que el terminal se convierte en el conjunto emblemático de la misma.
