Good treatment of mining effluents is important because, if it is efficient, it Will allow the recovery of minerals and minimize the impact of toxic substances in the water body. Considering that there are currently a variety of effluent treatments, this paper presents an alternative for the treatment of copper and lead, present in aqueous mining effluents, which is a threat to the environment, and a potential risk to human health and environmental factors. In the present investigation, cadmium sulfate (CdS) nanoparticles were used as a nanoadsorbent for the removal of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) ions present in the industrial effluent. Nanoparticle characterization was performed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) whose conclusions indicated that the crystallite sizes of CdS were smaller than 100nm and whose shapes were rod and quasi-spherical. The industrial effluent obtained a pH=6.78, and an initial concentration of Copper 0.198 mg/L and Lead 0.843 mg/L. Therefore, the results obtained determined that the highest removal efficiency of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) from industrial effluents was obtained by using 0.005 gr of CdS in 25 mL of the sample at pH=6.78 for 20 min and an agitation of 300RPM, achieving 98.79% removal of Cu, and 98.30% removal of Pb.
