The present research proposes an alternative constitutive stress–strain model for concrete, aiming to simplify the nonlinear calculation of the moment–curvature diagram (MCD) in rectangular beams subjected to pure bending. This model allows for the analytical and direct determination of the magnitude and position of the concrete compressive force and the depth of the neutral axis, facilitating the calculation of the nominal moment to construct the MCD based on the unit strain of the extreme compression fiber. Two proposed approaches are introduced: the first relies on integration parameters, which allow for a linear relationship between the magnitude and position of the concrete compressive force as a function of the depth of the neutral axis, while the second employs an equivalent rectangular stress block. The experimental tests, conducted according to ASTM C469-94 (1994) were restricted to concrete with compressive strengths between 180 kgf/cm² and 355 kgf/cm². The proposed constitutive model is based on the mechanical properties of the concrete, such as stiffness, post–peak softening, strain energy density, ultimate strength, and post– peak inelastic deformation capacity. This model is represented by two variants of fourth- degree polynomial functions in normalized coordinates, one for the ascending section and the other for the descending section and is fully defined by the ultimate strength of the concrete. The statistical analysis of the trend in the experimental data obtained showed a high correlation with the proposed model, with an average coefficient of determination R² greater than 0.99 for 48 specimens. In conclusion, the proposed model simplifies the nonlinear calculation of the MCD by means of direct calculation methods, improving the efficiency in the DMC calculation process without depending on complex numerical methods.
